Teeth Whitening in Woodbury

Teeth Whitening for Spring

Teeth Whitening in Woodbury image
Professional Crest White Strips

With Spring in full swing we are all feeling the benefits of the sunshine! The brightness of the sun reminds us of the brightness of our teeth.  We offer several teeth whitening/bleaching options that are user friendly.

All it takes is once or twice a day for 10-14 days depending on what whitening option you choose. We have cost effective take home kits that any teen would be pleased with after getting their braces off.  High school juniors would also love a bright smile for their senior pictures.

Adults also benefit from whitening products.  Over time our teeth tend to become darker as we age and from things we enjoy eating and drinking.

Our two main take home bleaching kits are the Crest Professional White Strips used two times daily for 30 min each.

The other option we recommend is the Opalescence Go kit used one time daily for 45 min-1 hour.

 Whitening Tips

* Try to use your bleach on consecutive days to get the best result.

* Do not drink anything dark while bleaching; ex: dark sodas, coffee, and teas.  The bleach opens up the surface layer of our teeth to take in the bleach and while they are open they can also pick up stain easier.

* Use a sensitivity toothpaste while bleaching. It has additional fluoride in it that can help with sensitivity.

* Do not worry if you have some sensitivity to cold while bleaching.  With the enamel layer open, your teeth can respond easier to temperature change.  This is NOT a permanent side effect.  If you take a day off from bleaching, your saliva will fill in the exposed tooth surface and within 24 hours your teeth will be significantly less sensitive.

Teeth whitening is a featured service at our Woodbury location serving Oakdale, Stillwater, Cottage Grove, North St. Paul, and Maplewood.  You do not need an appointment to pick up a bleaching kit for yourself or as a gift.  You do need to be a patient of record here at our office. Please give us a call or email us with any questions you may have about our products.  We look forward to helping you brighten your smile.

Eat Slowly, Enjoy the Benefits

April 16, 2015 By Dale

Eating too much fast food is bad for your health. So is eating food too fast.

food imageMost people are missing one of life’s simple pleasures – eating. Our lives today are so busy, and the pace so fast, that when we even bother to sit down for a meal we’re done in under five minutes.

Eating Habits

Wolfing down food is a bad habit. The teeth are the first element of the digestive system. They, along with saliva, are designed to pulverize food before it goes to the stomach to continue the digestive process.

When large chunks of food reach the stomach the rest of the system has to work harder to break it down into nutrients; and not all the food’s benefit is absorbed before it is passed though the process.

Try the twenty chew rule. It will be hard at first. You will notice it might take you twenty or thirty minutes to eat a meal. The trick is to slow down. Relax your mind while your feed your body.

Enjoy your meal. Eat slowly. You will notice that the more you chew your food the more flavor it releases.

Try to make mealtime a real break time, and when you give your teeth enough time to do their job you are also giving your digestive system a break. Well chewed food is easier to digest and provides more nutrients to the body.

Please try to take thirty minutes to chew each bite twenty times. Think of mealtime as a real rest time and not as just a necessity. You will be surprised at the results.

Testimonials

"I have always been fearful of going to the dentist until I found Dr. Ash through a co-worker. Her family has been going to Dr.Ash for a number of years. I made an appt for a cleaning and was very impressed with my hygienist Sandy. She was very gentle and I didn't feel like I was rushed through at all like previous dentists I had tried. The whole staff seemed very welcoming and professional. Dr. Ash was very friendly and conservative in her approach. I will now remain a Dr. Ash patient!" --Diana G.
