FAQs

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions from patients and those interested in Valley Creek Family Dentistry. If we don’t answer your questions with our responses below, please contact us for a reply.

Q: How often should I visit the dentist?

A: It depends. Most people should have their teeth cleaned and examined twice a year. Patients with gum issues should have their teeth cleaned every three or four months.

Q: How often are x-rays taken?

A: We recommend x-rays be taken yearly. They are an important tool in monitoring the health of your teeth.

Q: Are x-rays safe?

A: Our x-ray machine uses a very low amount of power which is focused on a small area.

Q: Are silver (amalgam) fillings safe?

A: Yes. The ADA has determined that amalgam fillings pose no health risk, but many people prefer not to use a compound that contains any trace of mercury. We like to use composite fillings. They are just as strong, contain no mercury and match the natural tooth color.
