Dental Exam

dental exam woodbury

A bright smile goes a long way and we can help you keep your smile shining bright.

The dental exam is the foundation of your relationship with us. It begins with a basic screening for any signs of oral cancer. All tissues in the mouth are carefully examined including the tongue. The Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) is checked. That’s the joint between the skull and the jawbone. Then we look at the teeth, checking for alignment and any signs of decay, abnormal wear or fracture. Filled cavities and any bridgework are also checked for soundness.

If x-rays are taken they are examined and compared to a previous set to determine if there has been any important changes.

Periodontal readings are compared to previous results to assess the health of your gums and bone.

Dr. Ash recommends a dental exam be done twice a year. Changes in your oral health can happen quickly, and a problem caught early is easier and much less expensive to fix.
